Last week The Design Museum opened a new exhibition Drawing Life showing the work of Javier Mariscal. As founder of Estudio Mariscal he’s amassed a huge body of work over the thirty years of his professional career.

The exhibition is not a retrospective as it is not chronologically ordered, but structured around concepts and grouped into different exhibition areas. An artist who has produced lots of work you’ll recognise, without you even knowing it. I love his identity for the 1992 Olympics in Barcelona – a Catalan sheepdog inspired by Picasso’s interpretations of Velazquex’s classic Las Meninas called ‘Cobi’.
