2010 Review: Will Hudson

Date
31 December 2010

So here it is, the longly anticipated, the hugely awaited, the day many thought would never come, that’s right, it’s 31 December and the final day of 2010! I’ve also written a few words about the year, and for that I can only apologise. Have a great night tonight and we’ll next see you on Tuesday when we start the next 1000 posts and the beginning of 2011…

My image of the year explained; 2010 was the year London finally became home, properly. Having already lived here for 3 years we (Dem and myself) moved into our new place in August and very quickly learnt it’s the simple things that make a big difference, mainly a little outdoor space, commonly known as a garden. See favourite day(s) question…

Mark out of 10 for 2010?

A solid 9. I’d love to give it more as there’s very little I can complain about but you’ve got to leave a little room for improvement haven’t you.

What broke? How did you fix it?

My bike broke, and all it would take is a replacement tyre but I’m a fair weather cyclist and I’ve still not quite got round to fixing it. Sometime next year it’ll happen, maybe March.

What was the best thing you saw this year?

My memory escapes me at times like this so here’s a few, not necessarily best but certainly memorable; anything published by Visual Editions, Anna and Britt have created something pretty special there and I can’t wait to see what’s next. Jay-Z performing at Radio City in New York was pretty special as was the Richard Wilson site specific oil installation at the Saatchi. Must remember good (nice) things better, maybe I’ll start a blog!

What was your favourite day of the year?

We got the keys to our new house in August and as previously mentioned, London finally felt like home and with it the opportunity to wake up and eat breakfast outside, as a result there were many favourite days.

Most dangerous/scariest moment?

Anyone that’s ever been to Marrakesh will agree that the number of motorbikes, scooters, bicycles and donkeys in alleyways that narrow appear fairly dangerous at the best of times… and then you have to walk down them. Not the ideal first few hours to a relaxing week away but a great week was had.

Best Google image search of 2010?

I can’t remember why but I ended up googling the fantastic Michael Crowe, if you’re aware of him and his work it’s not what you’d have thought. A Twitter conversation followed and it turns out he’s aware of his namesake(s).

Best man/woman of the year?

In danger of annoying any Australian readers we might have there are 11 men that have recently rewarded a lot of late nights in retaining the Ashes. For any readers outside the UK I’m talking about cricket, you’ll probably require a Wikipedia link.

Your finest moment?

There’s still a few hours left…

If you could only take one thing that you bought in 2010 into 2011, what would it be?

Due to the recent snow Dem insisted on buying sledges on the way back to Birmingham and what resulted was some of the most fun I never expected to have, as demonstrated here by Dem and my brother George. The sledges are coming with us and hopefully so will the snow… www.youtube.com/watch?v=NSfjZa4-v54

What would you like to say to 2010?

Thank you.
