Studio East

Date

Although we’re still two years away from the first pace being taken, shot being ‘put’ and stroke being swum, the Olympics is of course already making waves in London. Yes, we know about that logo, and those mascots, but the amount of creativity going on around the main events is staggering. One such initiative is Studio East, an initiative being introduced at the in-progress shopping hub, Westfield in Stratford. Their idea is to let cultural icons (including Tom Dixon and Tracy Emin) award commissions to the finest up-and-coming east London creatives to create new work for the site. Did I just hear dull shopping centres and malls all over the globe slump with envy?
