The Books are a two-man outfit from New York. They are prone to using samples in their songs and their lyrics are often excerpts from random passages, but most of the actual melodies and words are played and sung by them. Their live shows are extremely pleasant experiences, as they put together videos using samples of old stock footage and films that go with their songs up on a screen behind them. Their website is a little vexing, but a few of their videos are available on youtube, and all of their albums are worth having.
