Debauched Zeitgeist is a composite moving image created from the cover of 2live Crews’ 1989 controversial album, “As Nasty As They Want to Be”, which was banned and deemed obscene in the U.S. This still image is layered with ocean footage shot near the Gulf, and four small videos that animate the women’s hair. In the video the four members of 2live Crew, who in the original image face the camera beneath the women’s legs, have been removed. The women remain gazing out at the ocean at a passing boat while their hair blows in the breeze.
