Anatoly Grashchenko's randomly generated posters for a Moscow theatre

Date

Moscow-based designer Anatoly Grashchenko came to our attention for his work in the Graphic Design Festival Scotland poster competition, and his portfolio is a testament to his innovative approach to the format. The standout project for us was his proposal for The Meyerhold Theatre Centre in his home city, which sees a poster transformed into an ever-changing platform. The main image takes a large hand-drawn illustrated triptych as its starting point, and sees the elements taken apart and put back together in multiple formats. The skill with typography and layout sway the project from being gimmicky to accomplished, and the absence of branding and blocks of text feels brave and fitting for the client.
