Andrea Galvani is definitely taking his art seriously. His latest project blurs the boundary between art, science and extreme adventuring, with the award-winning artist and crew of 18 embarking on an Arctic voyage armed with a high-power torch and sound equipment. Earlier portfolio pieces include the instantly familiar balloon-decapitated horses and Magritte-esque trop-l’oeil. But the absurdist imagery isn’t simply a clever quip, for Galvani such work is inherently layered with commentary upon the nature of perception and reality. Deep.
