Annette Kelm

We are all guilty of glancing at photographs, of whizzing through endless slideshows, of clicking and dragging images for a rainy day that never comes. But Annette Kelm’s work not meant for this kind of treatment. Dealing with time, narrative and history and often displayed in large batches, her constructed images are formed in order for them to be stared at, fully absorbed and interpreted. One of her most well-known photographic collections is inspired by the faux farm that Marie Antoinette had built at Versailles, and the real farm nearby that supplied the tools to keep it alive. Her photographs are currently on display at Johann Konig in Berlin.
