Austrian whizzes Atelier Olschinsky produce amazing mirrored cityscapes

The beauty of patterns is that they can be made from just about anything. But while it’s okay to arrange your Skittles in colour sequence when you’ve got some time alone, sometimes it’s good to get a bit more technical about the process – much like Austrian based studio Atelier Olschinsky, who’ve always had a love for detailed patterns and shapes.

Last year we featured their Legendary Cities series of fantasy metropolises and they’ve produced a huge amount of strong work since, but it’s their latest illustration project that caught our eye. City Patterns is a set of digitally rendered cityscapes which unlike in previous projects where the cities have been built up layer by layer, this time they’ve been manipulated into wonderfully mirrored and repeated urban patterns. Even more abstract, the colours, depth and detail are dizzyingly brilliant.
