Zurich-based Atlas creates exhibition identity using found visuals

Date
21 January 2016

The mix of found imagery and strong typography in this exhibition identity from Zurich-based studio Atlas encapsulates the variety of work it’s advertising. Created for a public art show taking place in the streets of Zug, a small city in Switzerland, the work focuses on interpretations of restlessness.

When we featured the studio back in 2014, we published its identity for Barcelona’s Design Museum and many of its projects have since followed suit creating branding for the likes of Kunsthalle Basel and Rethink the Modular at Salon de Mobile in Milano.

For this particular identity, Atlas took a looser approach towards imagery: “We used YouTube as a source for the visual material since it has become a melting pot of various information layers, ranging from dramatic reports of refugees in the Mediterranean sea, to instructions for the perfect vegan protein shake.” The juxtaposition of images with the ordinary, sans-serif type is brought together with Atlas’ use of colour and the odd graphic flourish.
