Hand-carved spoons get a tasty bit of branding from Bedow

Date

As if bent on proving their diversity to the world, Swedish design studio Bedow have just produced the identity, website and print collateral for a most unorthodox venture. Last time we featured their work they were making restrained packaging for a range of skincare products, previously it was thermally reactive labelling for beer bottles, and this time they’re working for a man who hand-whittles wooden spoons.

Oddwood (brilliant name!) is the brain child of Anders Bollman, and currently consists of a collection of some 12 models of hand-carved spoon. But his ambitions are clearly greater than simple soup shovels, otherwise he surely wouldn’t have enlisted Bedow’s help to set his type, design his books and draw his charming tree logo. After all, spoons are all well and good, but sometimes a meal calls for knives and forks.
