Beautiful illustration and traditional printing from Benjamin Courtault

Date
3 April 2013

We know almost nothing about Benjamin Courtault; who he is, where he works, what his favourite colour is. What we can say of this talented young/old man is that he creates masterful illustration. We stumbled across his work in the depths of Flickr and were so taken with the images on display that we tracked him down to a blogspot – but then the trail went cold. Either this talented fellow doesn’t want to be found or he’s trying to create a mystique around his work for his fans to get lost in. Regardless, his skill for combining raw illustrative talent with a comprehensive understanding of traditional print processes has yielded some magnificent results. Just look at that reimagining of Noah’s Ark as a Jerusalem Zoo. Pure, illustrated gold!
