Best of the Web: the perfect antidote to the end of summer blues

Date
2 September 2016

As we usher in a new month and, let’s face it, a new season, this week’s Best of the Web can be that ray of sunshine in that difficult time of transition. Forget about your peeling, burnt skin, lost summer loves and abandoned paperbacks by getting stuck in to some great stuff we’ve found on the internet instead. And for an extra treat we’ve got who to follow on social media too.

I saw this time lapse of a stop-motion animation the other day. Incredible how much work goes into making a feature length film this way. (Tim)

This week The New York Times questions whether the Old Masters can be relevant again , when their value has been slowly dropping at big auctions like Christies. (Beccy)

Louisiana Museum of Modern Art in Denmark (my #1 favourite gallery) has a channel dedicated to artist talks, including this one with David Shrigley. (Connor)

Vogue Brazil photoshopped two non-disabled soap stars to look like amputees for its Rio Paralympics campaign, and here Frances Ryan points out why this is, depressingly, not an isolated event. (Jenny)

If you enjoy rearranging your desktop and need a few moments of zen, go on Rafaël Rozendaal’s latest site www.blankwindows.com and shuffle around some white, empty windows for absolutely no reason. (Beccy)

I’m not really a fan of the Beatles but I did enjoy this . (Owen)

I saw this documentary at the weekend. I knew a little about this chap David Geffen, but not the full extent of how much he had achieved. This guy’s career is UNBELIEVABLE . (Charlie)

Back again with another wonderful video is Metronomy with 16 Beat , filmed live at Paris-Charles De Gaulle airport and directed by Colin Solal Cardo. Great combination of fabulous cinematography, musicianship and choreography. (Lucy)
