I came across this recently when listening to an amazing talk by Bas Jacobs of the Underware font foundry. The three designers at Underware spent around a decade designing their Fakir font and encountered a lot of creative suffering in it’s making, so, they decided to make a book about voluntary suffering. Naturally, the book was printed with ink made from the authors blood.
