Bruce Munro: Water Towers

Salisbury Cathedral has the largest spire in the whole of the UK, and unsurprisingly this is the town’s claim to fame, with very little else ever rearing its head from the sleepy Wiltshire town. So, when I heard that some large-scale, vibrant sculptures were to illuminate the cloisters of the town’s centre-piece I was pleasantly surprised. It’s by Bruce Munro and consists of a maze of 69 towers, each built from 216 illuminated water bottles, which change colour in time with a musical score. Built by Munro’s 10-strong team (who laced 69,000 meters of optic fibre through 15,000 bottles) and a must-see before it gets poured back into the Cathedral’s grounds in February…
