Impressive Iraq speeches project from new German publishers Cake

Date

In these straitened times, it’s always good to see projects dedicated to supporting unseen work from new creative talents so it was fantastic to get word from Mainz about Robin Scholz and Philipp Lehr’s new venture Cake Publishing.

They’ve just unveiled their first raft of projects which combine interesting subject matter with eye-catching design. Pick of these first titles is Things America Said, which focuses on two speeches about the Iraq War given by Barack Obama and his predecessor George W. Bush. In a booklet and accompanying posters the speeches are presented, listed and then censored to produce a good insight into how we articulate humankind’s innate urge to warmonger, and the discrepancies between what our leaders say and what they mean.

We can’t wait to see more from Cake’s timely commitment to showcasing the next generation.
