Carl Partridge

Whether we like to admit it or not, we Brits have always been a bit obsessed with our cousins across the Atlantic. Carl Partridge takes this interest with Americana further than most and his collages revel in the symbols of American culture and society, at once so familiar and so alien to our own. The recent Central St Martins graduate has never visited the country which so exercises his imagination, so his perspective is skewed through the prism of his British sensibilities. As he puts it: “It’s easier to buy into my idealization of America if you’ve never been.” You can see more of Carl’s work at Beach London until November 20.
