Caroline Jane Harris creates complex, beautiful pieces which echo the intricate, organic patterns found in nature – the branches of a tree, the veins in a body, some even look like electromagnetic pulses. Her fascinating process is a mix of digital renderings of pattern templates, and the painstaking, “mediative” hand-cutting of paper which she says, “introduces the random: chaos and asymmetry.” The University of Brighton graduate will be showcasing her work at The Arbeit Gallery later this month – a good chance to go and lose yourself in her beautiful worlds.
