Photography: Charlie Schuck's images for Kinfolk's new issue are simply sublime

Summer is here, I think. I tentatively say this simply because while the sun has been brazenly showing itself more often recently, the clouds have a tendency to get jealous and rain on its parade every so often.

But despite the unpredictable weather, a new season has arrived meaning a new issue of the ever-elegant Kinfolk is here too, this time titled The Saltwater Issue. The 12th edition of the magazine focuses on the sea with a whole host of aquatic-themed articles as well as a nod to some of the ocean’s inhabitants as well.

I was instantly drawn to this photo essay, taken by Charlie Schuck and styled by Ashley Helvey called The Lingering Salt of Sweat. It’s a beautiful set of images based around a trip to the seaside and the idea of the ocean’s salt crystals drying on your skin and leaving a small trace of the day behind.

Simply styled and using a colour palette of my dreams, I love the salt crystals clinging to the skin and hair of the models like summer snowflakes and the clean off-white clothing. What a delightfully graceful way to start the summer.
