Online basketball culture magazine COURT brings its A-game

Date
17 February 2015

The result of countless late nights in a college studio watching NBA games, COURT is Louis Bennett and our sister agency INT Works’ very own Callum Green’s editorial answer to the trade rumour reports and power ranking speculation that litters basketball journalism.

The online magazine celebrates basketball culture from around the world, and the first issue balances long-form articles about Chinese basketball and interviews with the likes of “Lady Magic” Nancy Lieberman with visual and audio content covering Fleetwood Sounds sports recording and the veterans of New York’s West 4th Street games. COURT bounces between the current and historic, documenting local park pick-ups and NBA playoffs, establishing a record of the people and places that make basketball what it is.

Issue 00 features Samuel Bradley’s photographs of the “veterans of West 4th Street,” the blacktop regulars at the Manhattan cage courts. His photographs catch the New York light, the sense of community and twisted knuckles of the local court players.
