Dan Howden presents the city through his beautiful linocuts

Date
6 September 2016

York-based printmaker and Illustrator Dan Howden produces linocuts that combine an acute sense of place with a warm and inviting colour palette. His work is full of texture, with the layers of the prints providing a compositional complexity that sets his work apart. His images of the cathedrals in Liverpool, where he studied graphic design and illustration, capture the grandiosity and heavy material presence that the buildings have in the city, whereas his images of Kuwait have a cooler presence, using his linocuts to offer a considered vision of urban modernity. It’s Nice That last featured Dan’s work in November 2015 and we look forward to seeing where his travels take him next and how his style will evolve.
