Daniel Evans and Brendan Baker take India with Sleeping Through an Earthquake
Photographic duos are an interesting one – there’s certainly some grand theory about the truth of a photo being dissecting even further by a shared vision or a shared experience. Step forward Daniel Evans and Brendan Baker, partners in more than one photographic outing, their latest series Sleeping Through an Earthquake comes straight out of India.
Having successfully rejected “lads on tour” as their primary purpose for travelling, they present us with sensitive and unexpected images that are less about highlighting the difference culture or light or cuisine but close in, like still-lifes, on seemingly alien arrangements that appear foreign to the curious and aesthetically minded artists. These images they tell us, “India made us take.”
