Danny Markey

I only discovered Danny Markey’s surburban landscape paintings last year, but I absolutely love them. His subject matter is simple and he looks at the everyday, very ordinary scenes that are usually overlooked or discarded. I feel a real connection with his work, as this a key theme in all my photographs. There is an absence of people in his paintings, but they are full of signs of life. A lot of them also depict Welsh valleys, which I have a particular affection for having spent so much time there.
