When I think about gymnastics at school I think of sweaty blue mats, borrowed socks and a deep, guilty feeling of wanting to beat my friends at inane tasks involving small beanbags and plastic cones. Timeless and poetic, David Meshki’s photographs capture sports centres and gymnastics with such beauty and care that with one look, he can make all those bad memories fade away like shoe skids on the floor of the sports hall.
