The stylistic punch of Dexter Lander's photography

Date
25 October 2016

Dexter Lander is a south London-based photographer with a talent for editorial content that features a humorous narrative. The Central Saint Martins graduate’s portfolio includes a range of commissions including Mushpit, Dazed and Confused and Man About Town. In light of this, Dexter sent us a series of images that encompass his practice, style and medium.

The photographer’s work is often “a mix of portraiture, fashion and documentary images shot both on camera and my phone,” Dexter explains. As a result Dexter’s portfolio includes a mix of mediums coated in a consistent punchy style, bold in flash and colour combinations. This sets the photographer apart from many of his contemporaries, not focusing on one subject or landscape, instead developing his own language.

As a result Dexter has created a portfolio which is “a mix of vibrant images that celebrate the character and strength of the subjects, mixing the two mediums to show how the two strains of work influence each other.”
