Dull reality spruced up beautifully by photographer Teddy Delcroix
French photographer Teddy Delcroix has a skill for close-up, abstracted compositions of everyday scenes. Teddy shot Interior-Exterior on 35mm film over the last ten years, and continues to do so – photographing places, friends and family in the candid camera tradition. He describes his aesthetic as minimalist: “I like all things ordinary, but I particularly enjoy the randomness behind compositions that you are just lucky enough to notice.”
Inspired by the likes of Lewis Baltz, Stephen Shore and Jessica Craig-Martin, Teddy’s work depicts “dull reality [transformed] into poetic fiction” in this potentially limitless series. There’s abandoned bikes, stacks of roofs, crates full of Looza juice and a slightly worrying abandoned pram. Teddy’s work is witty and well-framed, and in delightful technicolour.
