September's crept up on us so time, we think, for our Editor's Letter

Date
3 September 2012

September? Already? Oh come on that’s ridiculous. Alright fine, we’ll accept the increasingly rapid march of time but only because as ever the onset of autumn is an exciting time for all of us here at It’s Nice That.

Online we made some changes to the homepage that you’ll have noticed, bringing back author bylines and pulling in a few lines of text to accompany each link. We think it gives our content a little bit more room to breathe and adds extra information to help you decide which articles to click on (first!). There’s also a fun game you can play with our more, um, roundabout intros to see if you can work out how on earth they come back to the point.

We’ve also added a second list of tabs on article pages so you can see the most viewed stories for the past seven days, as well as the most recent content, which seemed like a good idea given the popularity of our Most Viewed articles’ newsletter.

And last but NOT least we also added our mission statement under the main title to help new visitors work out what the fig is going on, and giving you the chance to challenge us on anything you feel falls foul of our objective. We may not agree but we’ll at least try and explain!

Keep your eyes peeled for new opinion pieces due to launch in the next few weeks, where we’ll once again be opening up comments so you can have your say on what we’ve said – which should be exciting. And series two of our podcast is set to launch this month too, in a slightly different format.

Print-wise we still aren’t quite in a position to tell you about our new project, due out towards the end of the year, but it won’t be long, while the next issue of the magazine is slated for March 2013.

We will be holding a second stock clearance sale at our east London HQ this Friday (September 7) as so many of you last time said you were unable to make it down. We’re selling off the last few mags dirt cheap so pop along and take advantage of us (we don’t say that very often).

September’s arrival does of course mean that we’re only a few weeks away from our creative symposium, Here, at the Royal Geographical Society. Tickets have now sold out but we’ll obviously be documenting the day to share words of wisdom from the likes of Sir Paul Smith, Quentin Jones and Bompas & Parr. You can add your name to the waiting list should any tickets become available.

But also if you did miss out then our second annual In Progress event will take place in December, looking at the themes that defined 2012 and how they might shape 2013 and beyond. We’ll be releasing more details about this in due course so sign up to our newsletter to be kept in the loop.

That’s all from us for now, have a snazzy September!
