Holiday homes and abstract spaces in Mexican illustrator Elena Boils’ illustrations

Date
12 November 2015

Elena Boils’ two projects are in the same vein as her floral prints we featured last year in that they focus on space and nature. These editorial illustrations of holiday homes are a lovely mix of digital lines mixed with free-hand brush strokes and the colours are a cool, pastel toned dream. Simple and clean, they hint at faraway escapes and lush greenery. Her other illustrations titled Still Life, mimic the same blending of computer-made abstract shapes with more organic and free-hand markings. Domestic imagery like bowls, vases and bananas sit within patterned and gridded backgrounds and their ambiguity only adds to their appeal.
