LDF 2012: Eley Kishimoto retrospective reflects their genius

Date
18 September 2012

The King and Queen of pattern are undoubtedly Mark Eley and Wakako Kishimoto – in their studio behind Brixton Prison they are producing stonking patterns, season after season.

These brilliant, geometric, striking patterns aren’t just limited to the catwalk though. Everyone wants some of Eley Kishimoto’s striking prints with countless cross-disciplinary collaborations, including Eastpak, Duvel, Incase Motorola and Honda, and their signature flash print is a stamp of cool approval whatever product it is applied to. No wonder they have a huge global following – each collection of prints is as ace as the last.

Eley Kishimoto’s mastery of print has managed to bridge London Design Festival and London Fashion Week as the design duo will be showing a retrospective of 20 years of their bold design work and collaborations alongside releasing their SS13 womenswear collection at the Aram Gallery. If you’re not scared of decoration, psychedelic patterns and bold colours, be sure to head down to the show.
