Film: Beautiful flying objects in Silent Studios' impressive film for Anya Hindmarch

Delightful stuff here from London-based, self-pronounced “architects of experience” Silent Studios, who have recently launched a new film to celebrate the Spring/Summer 2014 collection from Anya Hindmarch. This beautiful short was created in-house by their little team of very lovely, very experienced people who were briefed by Anya herself to make a piece of promotional material that explored the theme of “weightlessness.”

With that in mind, the team set about finding handbag-fodder to dangle from strings and attach to sticks to film and edit, creating the illusion that the objects were falling gracefully straight from heaven into one of the bags from the new collection. In the words of the studio, the film is “a dazzling array of beautiful everyday objects seen to float aimlessly, as if caught in the depths of space, only to be brought to order by the appearance of accessories from Anya Hindmarch’s latest collection.”

Remember that scene in Amelie where the mother and father are completely different except for their mutual love of cleaning out their toolbox/handbag of clutter and hoovering inside? I think we all have a touch of that in us, which is why this film is so satisfying – the dream of organised, clean living is always just out of reach but it’s films like this that remind us why it’s worth the constant chase. No one’s saying that buying one of these bags is going to automatically make your life as beautiful as this film is, but Silent Studios make a very strong case for it.

See some of the charming making-of shots below, and then check out what Silent Studios put together for Anya’s catwalk show. It’s like this film, but instead of suspending items you may find in a briefcase, it’s models.
