Traditionally, although the focus is very much trained on the sporting men and women, it was artists as much as athletes that performed for the public in a Cultural Olympiad. With that in mind, London is not short of exciting exhibitions that show off the finest creatives, in our most holy of art houses, with the first half of the year promising Portraits by Lucian Freud at the National Portrait Gallery (February), the first major solo exhibition of work by Heatherwick Studio at the V&A (May) and the new Turbine Hall commission for the Tate Modern courtesy of Tino Sehgal (July), to name but three.
