Fletcher Hanks

Date
4 October 2011

Fletcher Hanks was a cartoonist who drew during the golden age of comics. The guy sounded like a total A by some accounts, but gained inspired recommendations from the likes of Robert Crumb and Kurt Vonnegut. Brilliantly quotable, Hanks had lyrical, epic running narratives like Fantomah or Stardust the Super Wizard – he could transform into a human-sized star. Each one a product of his overactive and frequently misguided sense of violent justice, they are populated by weirdly disproportionate characters in psychedelic hues.
