We’ve got a deep-seated penchant for post-war Polish poster design. The bold-but-fading colour palettes, the carefully-conceived symbolism and the pervading air of suspicion and mistrust all combine to produce artwork that’s both striking and thought-provoking. It seems filmmaker Andrea Marks shares our passion, having spent ten years producing Freedom on the Fence a documentary that explores this golden era of radical political artwork, investigating its iconic status in the design world through the viewpoints of long-established Polish and American artists including the legendary Push Pin co-founder Seymour Chwast.
