The brilliant G . F Smith celebrates 2014 by supporting the It's Nice That Annual

The It’s Nice That Annual is a celebration of 12 months’ worth of sheer creative brilliance, and so it was great to collaborate on the book with a partner who shares the same values when it comes to art and design excellence, Moreover G . F Smith has had a big year itself, with its terrific new rebrand by Made Thought unveiled back in April.

All of which made them a perfect fit for the 2014 It’s Nice That Annual, and to mark this partnership the final section of the book swings the creative spotlight onto the paper brand that has been leading the way since 1885. We sent the fantastic Jamie Stoker up to the G . F Smith factory in northern England and he captured both the place where these stunning papers get made, but more importantly some of the people who are involved in the process. His excellent photographs are accompanied by an essay in which we talk directly to many of those who work at G . F Smith, from joint managing director John Haslam to operators on the factory floor and sales and customer service reps.

What emerges is a portrait of a company that is remarkably cohesive from top to bottom, with shared values and aims that date right back to its founder George Frederick Smith. We’re sure that many of those featured in the It’s Nice That Annual will go onto even bigger and better things in 2015; the same could be said of G . F Smith.
