Incredible portrait photography from New York-based Geordie Wood

Date
1 August 2014

Freelance photographer and photo-editor Geordie Wood is a man with tricks up his sleeve. His role as “a one-person photography department” at The Fader, not to mention innumerable commissions for publications from The New York Times and TIME to Vogue and Nowness, prove that he knows his stuff, and his skill is there fore the seeing in his photographs.

Somehow, Geordie manages to take faces that have been photographed hundreds of times, and capture something that no lens seems to have spotted before, whether it’s Lana Del Rey looking unnervingly natural, head on hands in the back of a car, or a heavy-browed Elijah Wood a million miles way from his former guise in Lord of the Rings, dotted with a glowing green light. It’s a hard trick to pull, but he manages it with aplomb.
