Brilliantly vivid illustrations from Lisbon-born Goncalo Viana

Date

If you’re feeling a bit bleary eyed this morning, grab a cup of coffee and take a look at Goncalo Viana’s beautiful illustrations to wake yourself up. Rich with colour and charming detail his work has a wonderful texture to it, as though you could reach out and actually feel the deep pigments he’s used.

With such a vivid and distinctive style, Goncalo manages to create a lovely depth to his images and I love the ones that seep into every corner of the page. The Lisbon-born illustrator was originally set on a career in architecture but his first love of drawing pictures won out and thank the lord it did.

With a portfolio bursting with editorial, advertising and book cover work, his love of geometry wonderfully weaves its way into provide a framework for the characters and colours he uses.
