Yet more witty, eminently commissionable work from illustrator Graham Roumieu

Date
18 January 2016

Graham Roumieu’s illustration recalls the editorial illustration of yesteryear at first glance, all light-touch linework and watery colourings. But on closer inspection there’s always a bit of a darker twist: our unicorn is enjoying a crafty fag, some Gallic vegetables are eloping together. That’s what’s kept us coming back to Graham’s work year on year, and it’s almost exactly 12 months since we last updated on his witty yet eminently commissionable work. Already this year he’s created images for the a new book for Harper’s, An Illustrated Collection , “which gathers the popular list of science factoids from Harper’s Magazine and makes them even better by accompanying them with illustrations,” in Graham’s words. He’s previously contributed to Apollo, The Atlantic, Oprah Magazine and the Financial Times. He says: “There’s lots of wine, history, politics, life advice, art society, etc. A good mix.” He’s right, it’s a very good mix indeed in his capable hands, and we’re excited to see what the rest of 2016 has in store for him.
