For my first post I thought it’d be good to kick off with one of the great old men of calligraphy and type-design of the last century: Hermann Zapf. My former teacher Gerard Unger once told me a story that Hermann used to show off his calligraphy skills on silk napkins in expensive restaurants, and give them to the waiters as a tip! If you’re not into calligraphy you should still check both the beginning and the end of this film. What a hand! Wow wow wow.
