Graphic Design: Norwegian studio Heydays make wood look really good

Date
18 December 2013

“What could be less interesting than a wooden floor?” was a question that I might have asked in polite conversation until today; and that would have been ignorant of me. Because today I discovered that actually wooden floors are REAL nice courtesy of Danish flooring experts Dinesen and their design agency Heydays. Of course we already know that Heydays make great work for great clients, we’ve featured them here, here and here for exactly that reason, but until now I was unaware of Dinesen and Heydays have made finding out about them an altogether more interesting prospect.

Mathias, Thomas, Lars, Stein and Martin have decided to focus the identity on the knots and irregularities that permeate wood and make each plank unique, turning these knotted patterns into embossed motifs that support a paired-back typographic logo mark and an otherwise clean identity. It’s a simple, beautiful identity for a simple, beautiful product.
