How Many Really?

Date
11 October 2011

It’s hard to quantify statistics in a manner to which people can easily relate. Disasters, pandemics and war can be an almost impossible stretch of the imagination; if you barely know 200 people, what hope have you of comprehending 10,000? Following on from their successful How Big Really? project, the BBC and design consultancy Berg have produced How Many Really? allowing users to compare the number of people involved in key historic events and large-scale disasters with their followers on social media sites. Not hugely upbeat, but understanding the scale of significant global events allows us to empathize with a world that we’re so often desensitized to.
