i-D and Business of Fashion team up to put the entire industry in one office

As the reigning royal family of fashion culture, i-D has built up an impressive roster of friends – designers, models, photographers, and magazine editors have been affiliated since Terry Jones first set up shop in 1980 – and they’re all happy to lend a hand when called on. So when fellow online daily resource Business of Fashion announced its index of the 500 most influential figures working in the fashion industry today, I guess it only made sense to cast them all together in a film with a suitably flamboyant brief.

The Aaron Rose-directed short, entitled Fashion at Work, imagines the entire fashion industry working from one giant office; former editor-in-chief of French Vogue Carine Roitfeld sits at one desk while superstar milliner Stephen Jones balances a pot plant on his head at another, and model Binx Walton and journalist Susie Lau recreate her covershoot down the hall as Alexa Chung narrates the whole thing. It’s theatrical and playful, complete with bright lo-fi graphics and a dreamily garish set that harks back to 90s TV programmes in the best of ways. Only i-D could make a gaudy office complex this spectacular and then fill it with the most exciting names working today. All hail!
