Graphic Design: Ico Design's stunning book for new Mayfair development

Date
30 July 2013

Not being either a super-rich investment banker (yet) or a footballer’s wife (yet) I don’’t really go to Mayfair that often – I find more prosaic ways of feeling poor and rejected like when my travel card gets rejected on the bus. But if anything was going to tempt me in to that weird otherworld of high end boutiques and art galleries that don’t seem to want anyone in them, it would be this beautiful work from Ico Design for new Mayfair development The Mellier.

To mark the launch of Eric Parry Architects’s new penthouse, Ico produced this really great-looking boxed book as a guide to contemporary Mayfair, featuring interviews and anecdotes about the area with genuinely exciting names like restaurateur Mark Hix and gallerist Sadie Coles. Photographer Alex James’ portraits shot on film are a really fitting way of approaching the imagery and feels classy without being pretentious, an accolade that could actually be applied to the whole project.
