Feeling a bit blue? Too many shandies on the weekend making you have a bit of a two/three-day hangover? I’m with ya baby, but don’t fear, Ed Cheverton’s here to inject some serotonin back into your grey brain. Lovely Ed was an It’s Nice That Graduate back in the summer of 2013 and has since been doing what we like best – continuing to make fantastic work and putting it out into the world.

He’s recently given his website a little bit of a spruce which is fantastic news as his last one didn’t quite do his work justice. Anyone who was worried Ed had gone all corporate and started doing illustration to actually earn a decent living DO NOT FEAR – he’s still making wooden characters and photographing them in the back garden and making incredibly niche, hilarious comics. We caught up with him to find out a bit more about what he’s been up to of late. It’s a lot.

“My work is still my constant source of joy and play, but has also taken on a somewhat darker role of escapism and therapy from stress and anxiety,” Ed tells us. “I’ve also been lucky enough to have been asked to exhibit at Pick Me Up this year as part of the Selects exhibition. Future plans include working BIG and I’m also beginning to write a short animated film.”

Another lovely project he’s been working on is the Postcard Club, a Tumblr on which illustrators can trade handmade postcards with each other to keep a community vibe going strong in the illustration world, specifically away from emails. “I’m encouraging other artists to do more trades between themselves too, because it’s just so much fun and also so that we can maintain a huge global network of swappers!”

Ed looks set for world domination, we can’t wait to catch up with him again this time next year to see what other exciting and inspiring things he’s been up to.
