Illustration: Incredibly detailed Where's Wally? style illustrations from Harry Bloom

Date
7 November 2013

Nice to see an illustrator straying right away from the trendy triangles and ionic columns so common in work these days and getting back to basics: funny people doing funny things in a friendly and nostalgic way. We’re not saying he’s ripped off Where’s Wally? as he’s quite clearly stated that he has, but he’s merely drawn inspiration from the master Martin Handford and put a modern spin on it. By modern spin we’re talking about huge drawings of crowds reminiscent of those at Victoria station at Rush Hour or the Olympic Park before the 100m sprint everyone crushed together but remaining cheerful. As well as his crowd drawings Harry has been making some truly enjoyable comics and some fantastic, non-cringe images to illustrate child-on-child cruelty.
