Fashion is never just about the clothes for this Estonian designer – it’s about ideas! She’s renowned for immense fashion performance/installation projects like 70 Cotton Smocks , a comment on lost identity, and Lúmine, which draws inspiration from Niels Bohr and string theory while perpetuating Ilison’s belief that “everything that surrounds us is mere illusion.” But high-minded sartorial exploits aside, she’s also just a very talented designer – her line of well-cut womenswear is an exercise in the everlasting chicness of all-black ensembles. Starting Friday she’ll curate a “dreamlike” space at the Estonian Embassy in Soho. Not to be missed!
