Martin Zähringer gets to know the most exciting new models on new site Is In Town

It’s not often you get to hear the opinions of models. Unless you’re the next big thing in the world of cat walking and clothes-horsing – a Moss, Campbell, Cole or Delevigne – nobody really wants to hear what you’ve got to say. Which seems unfair really, particularly given that they live more exciting lives than most. It’s clearly something that bothered photographer Martin Zähringer too as he’s set up a side-project that gives some of his favourite models a voice.

Designed by Charlotte Heal, Is In Town is a website that features shoots with some of the industry’s newest and most exciting talents – as photographed by Martin and occasional collaborators – and publishes interviews with them too. So not only do you get an idea of how these young girls look, you get to find out who they are, where they’ve come from, where they hope to be in the future and why they started modelling in the first place. There’s also the occasional pearl of wisdom to be found in their interviews too: “My mum told me once when I was down about castings that ‘if I throw enough shit at the wall, eventually some of it will stick.’ It made me giggle and it’s my life motto now.”
