The man behind Simian Mobile Disco’s visuals Jack Featherstone and his Studio Creme know a thing or two about making visuals for music, and he’s absolutely aced it again in this mesmerising video for Legowelt alias Occult Orientated Crime’s Japanese Trains. Created with Bas van de Poel, the track’s name is a direct starting point, and Jack describes the video as “a one way virtual trip through the Japanese train system.” He adds: “We rooted ourselves in the world of train simulation games to collect footage and stitch together a narrative.”

Bas van de Poel says: “The gloomy film is composed of live game footage captured inside various train simulators and shows hypnotic artificial landscapes with bold Japanese-inspired graphics on top.” The result is a hypnotic monochrome work that feels eerie and detached, working superbly with the music to form something that feels rooted in the 90s but also strangely futuristic.
