Photography: Jack Fillery brings us Dorset Country Steam Fair! Tractors and coal galore

Date

Here’s perhaps the only event in the world at which singing “oi’ve got a brand new combine ’arvester” isn’t either a gentle jibe at some poor unsuspecting country bumpkin or a bizarre Wurzels reunion, but real life! This summer photographer Jack Fillery took his camera to the Dorset County Steam Fair, where tractor, caravan and horse-drawn cart-lovers alike go to show off their vehicles, race all day and then drink plenty of fine Dorset ale. It might be a ridiculous mental image but Jack’s photographs of the day are really stunning; no clod of mud goes unnoticed, and the clouds of dust and coal surrounding his subjects make them look like lovable characters from a Dickens novel. So good.
