Film: James Aiken heads to Greenland for his stunning atmospheric short

We first came across young filmmaker James Aiken almost a year ago when his Icelandic surfing film captured our imagination. His unerring eye for cinematic scenery and ability to create and manipulate atmosphere in even a few short minutes was genuinely exciting, and we’ve been lucky enough to work with James on a couple of occasions in the past 12 months.

Now he’s back with his new personal project; a gorgeous, meditative five minutes of film following an Icelandic sailor and a Greenlandic hunter, who discuss how their lives are defined by the stunning if challenging environment in which they live. The visuals are jaw-dropping and the interviews engaging – succinct but honest insights into the way these two men see the world.

The only thing we’d suggest is that after two wintery northern trips, James might want to consider sunnier climes for his next piece.
