James Benjamin Franklin

Do you ever find yourself in such an incredibly mundane situation (think driving theory test waiting room) that it becomes pleasantly surreal? There’s something about James Benjamin Franklin’s paintings that conjures up just that feeling. A strange cross between ancient murals in the palaces of India and King of the Hill, his predominantly male characters seem to be having a constant, and slightly tawdry, struggle with life’s ups and downs. Look at his paintings and try to imagine your own narrative for each one, it’s a stark reminder of you how weird you are, and how great he is.
